We are seeking candidates for the following posts from September 2012 on
Academic and pastoral assistants
for the Lower School, Years 5-7
Subjects: preferably main subject maths or English in combination with any subsidiary subject; preferably degree-level teachers.
Our assistants come to us to bridge the gap between their 1st degree and the beginning of their teacher training for a minimum of six months. They have the opportunity to gain experience in the classroom (Years 5 – 7) and living environment by observing or teaching lessons and performing tasks in the residential quarters, e.g. supervising a small residential unit in collaboration with a mentor, supervising an after-school club, supporting academic learning in the daily homework period and organising leisure activities (sporting, artistic, etc.).
Candidates are expected to be willing to live on-site, respond to the children’s needs and stand in for absent colleagues wherever necessary. We offer an open, friendly staffroom, special living and working conditions in the ambience of a mediaeval castle and the chance to engage your whole personality in your work with the children; we also offer board and lodging and a commensurate salary.
