Supervisory Board takes Criticism on New Headmistress seriously

The Board of Schule Schloss Salem has appointed Mrs. Zeyer-Müller as the Headmistress of Schule Schloss Salem as from 1.9.2010, in accordance with the statutes of the School. On 5^th March the Supervisory Board first informed the Executive Committee [Leitungsgremium] of the School of this decision, and then the Boarding School Association  [Internatsverein] on 6^th March at its ordinary meeting, where  Mrs. Zeyer-Müller was introduced.

The procedure for appointing Mrs. Zeyer-Müller has given rise to numerous opinions being expressed in the media, as well as heated discussions and irritation at the School itself.

Mrs. Zeyer-Müller and the Board have been taking this situation very seriously. They therefore decided to face the accusations that had been spreading throughout the press and other media – this has already taken place - and are now seeking dialogue with staff members, pupils and parents in order to explain the procedure and gain a overview of the present atmosphere at the School.

For this reason a meeting with Mrs. Zeyer-Müller and the Board was convened at short notice on 16^th March. Here, the members of the staff presented their questions and reservations in an open debate and these were answered in the same detailed and open manner. At the end of the meeting, representatives of the School also had the possibility of exchanging opinions with Mrs. Zeyer-Müller and the Board. On 30^th March the parents are invited to take part in a discussion.

Furthermore, the Board will be convening the extraordinary Members' Meeting of the Boarding School Association [Internatsverein] in April, at which the subsequent procedure is to be debated and decided on.
