At Schule Schloss Salem children and young people can be admitted who are willing and able to fulfil the academic and boarding requirements, and also acknowledge the principles of Salem education. In Salem both academic and extra-curricular activities are compulsory, such as services, clubs and sport. Moreover, we expect students to take on offices and duties within the boarding school community. For these reasons, applicants must be motivated to take advantage of Salem's many and various special opportunities for their personal development.
Students can start at any level from Year 5 to 11. Entry in Year 12 or IB 2 is only possible in exceptional cases.
Normally, admission is granted only for an entire academic year (September to July).
Applicants for the German system must speak German well enough to take part in grammar school level lessons without any limitations. All foreign applicants are required to take an entrance exam.
For beginners as well as for advanced students of Years 5 - 7 the School offers the possiblility to take German in our integrated Language School Hohenfels. All students applying for Years 8 and 9 have to prove their knowledge of German on levels B1 (Year 8) or B2 (Year 9) respectively, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
All applicants for the International Classes or the IB Diploma Programme are required to be fluent in written and spoken English. They are also required to take an entrance exam and have to prove their knowledge of English on level B1 (Year 8) and B2 (Year 9) respectilvely.
The registration form should be handed in at the latest in January before the intended school entry.
Special rules apply for entry to the International Classes (Years 8, 9 and 10) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and we will gladly inform you about these.
