Course of the admission procedure

The first priority is to find out all about the conditions of admission and what the school expects and offers. The Admissions Office is available to give information concerning school law or the admissions procedure. A decision for or against Salem should not be made in a hurry. Parents should allow enough time to discuss all aspects of the change of school, and life in a boarding school, with the child. We know from experience that coming to a free and critical decision is the best foundation for a successful entry into a boarding school.

A first step towards admission is to send in the 'pupil's application form', with all required papers. All necessary forms [PDF file, 143KB] can be downloaded here

After processing all material prospective new members of the school will be invited to a selection day (dates see homepage). Meetings and interviews during this day are important and indispensable: questions about the change of school are answered, rules and customs of the school are discussed, and of course we talk about contractual matters. We allow enough time to tour the school premises and talk to students as well.

If for legal or other reasons (e.g. a change in the type of school, or an application from abroad) an entrance or assessment examination should be necessary, a date for this should also be arranged with the Admissions Office.

When a contract has been signed, the first four months are regarded as a probationary period.

The general conditions are available for downloading here [PDF-Datei, ca. 400 KB].
