A unique school community

Seven hundred pupils attend Schule Schloss Salem. More than 90 per cent of them are boarders. The proportion of girls and boys is more or less equal – at present 48 per cent of the pupils at Salem are girls.

Salem is international: currently 26 different nations are represented; around 20 per cent of the pupils have a foreign passport.

A quarter of the pupils are studying for the International Baccalaureate; 75 per cent want to take the Abitur. More than half of the IB pupils are of German nationality. 10 per cent of those taking the Abitur come from abroad.

Salem pupils develop their talents in a great variety of ways. For example, for several years now some of them have been among the prize-winners in the famous young musician competition “Jugend musiziert”, which is organised by the German Music Council.
