Three levels for a boarding school way of life appropriate to the pupil's age

Salem is an internationally oriented, state-approved, privately funded grammar school. The pupils have the option of finishing their studies with the Geman Abitur or in the international branch of the school with the Full Diploma of the International Baccalaureate (IB)

Schule Schloss Salem consists of

the Lower School Hohenfels Castle

for Years 5 to 7 (about 90 girls and boys)

the Middle School Salem Castle

for Years 8 to 11 and the International Classes 8 to 10

(about 270 girls and boys)

the Upper School Salem International College

for Years 12 and 13 and the two years of the International Baccalaureate

(about 340 girls and boys)

Each school is to a large extent independent and creates a culture appropriate to its age group by means of its own educational and academic profile.

Many activities are also undertaken with pupils from the other levels – e.g. in music, drama and sport. Most teachers give lessons at all levels.

The funding provider of Schule Schloss Salem is the non-profit organisation "Schule Schloss Salem e.V.", whose chairman is Prof. Dr. h. c. Robert Leicht.

The "Förderverein" is the oldest institution which among the Kurt Hahn Foundation and the Alumni Organisation takes care of the school and its students.

The school is run by a management committee under the chairmanship of the overall Principal Prof. Dr. Dr. Eva- Marie Haberfellner.

Salem is a member of the Round Square Conference, an international association of boarding schools with a common aim. Round Square schools carry out joint projects and organise pupil exchanges worldwide.
