The Middle School in Salem Castle

Salem Castle is about eleven kilometres from Lake Constance in the midst of the Linzgau landscape, which is characterised by wine and fruit growing. The former Cistercian monastery with its impressive minster and extensive gardens is now in the possession of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the home of Salem’s Middle School. Approximately 270 pupils of Years 8 to 10 and the International Classes live and learn in the very special atmosphere of the castle.

A large playing field with tennis courts, a gym and their own swimming pool offer the pupils many different ways of facing sporting challenges – either in teams or alone.

With an extensive and well equipped library, workshops for the guilds, the services and the arts, as well as cosy rooms for the lessons in small classes, the pupils find a stimulating environment in which they can pursue their interests and develop their capabilities to the full.

The pupils live in two or four-bed rooms in the 'wings' (named after the structural units of the castle), which are also equipped with a small kitchen and a comfortable common room.
